The school runs a contest of designing miniature Christmas trees every year.

Many generous students then donate their creations to help decorate the facility.

James Kudo, a retired band teacher from Waiakeawaena, is still working to make this event happen each year.

A group of these students led by Kudo recently visited Life Care, keeping this tradition alive.

In December, Life Care staffers, as usual, helped the Rock &Roll M.C. Inc. sponsor the annual Toys for Tots drive on Hawaii Island.

Life Care Center of Hilo has collected and donated toys for this great cause every year since 2001.

This year’s Life Care donation raised the total to more than 4,280 toys for island children since the center’s volunteers came on board.

Ellsworth Fontes has organized the Toys For Tots event for the past 18 years.
